Sewing Room Reveal!!!

WARNING!!!!!

Extremely Picture Heavy Post

Well Here We Go!!!!

This is what has been keeping me BUSY for the last few weeks…

I had some WONDERFUL opportunities that I had to turn down… Being ALL my Sewing stuff was Piled Ceiling High…

Equating to…

One BIG Mess!!!!

But it has ALL been worth it…

We had to keep things Simple…

Since we will soon be Selling the house

But..

At the same time I didn’t want to take to many shortcuts

I still wanted to be able to enjoy my New space..

My Sewing Room sits right off of our  Kitchen

I slipped covered that Green a Blue checkered chair that is in the picture on top

I only put Two of my machines on the Table since these are the ones I use the most

Behind one of the cabinets Hides my Cutting Pads and Rulers

The Cutting Table is Hinged on the wall and folds down with the legs underneath it…

This Little shelf holds my Extras very nicely

This is a Handy Vintage Hamper

It holds my…

Which I will be sharing how I made it in another post

It Protects my Desk Nicely and I can Craft and Create without Worry

I have so MANY places to store things in…

Nothing is without a home..

This Cabinet holds some Extra Fabric along with some Paints, Stamps, Glitter, Pin Cushions and several other Do Dads…. Along with some of my Vintage Sewing Pieces..

When I first set out to do this Sewing Room, I wanted to go for a Vintage Dress Shop Theme…

But keeping it still Functional

I was THRILLED to pieces when I came across this Vintage Department Store Mirror… I snatched it up and new it was going to make a PERFECT addition to my new Sewing Room…

It has to be one of my Favorite pieces in the room  along with this Vintage Mannequin on this Cast Iron Stand

I LOVE when the Sun begins to go down because I get to use my Vintage light switches which we have collected over the years

I Love how the Colors Soften as Night comes and the Lights turn on

On each Cabinet there is a Cut out to display Vintage Hats and Gloves

This Pretty Lady is one of the Many pictures I have picked up while Antique shopping…

This Precious Lady is My Husband Great Grandmother…

Grandma Anna

She just seemed to be right at home here

I am in LOVE with…

There is still so much to share on some of the Finer Details…

But I thought I would break those up into separate posts

I also new how Anxious you guys were to see the finished product… Which I am still waiting on a few more pieces to arrive…

I hope you enjoyed the Trip!!!

Hi, I’m a new follower via Linky and Networked Blogs and I hope you’ll follow back. What an awesome space! It reminds me of going into the little custom boutiques with my mom when I was little. I’m just getting back into sewing and have so many projects ahead for my bedroom makeover. My sewing machine died a year ago and I haven’t been able to replace it. But I will be using a friends for the weekend; so excited! Trying to save up to get a really nice machine as I like to sew a lot. Any suggestions on a preferred brand or type?

I saw your room on a linky party. I am redoing my sewing room too. Though I have to say it pales in comparison with yours. My gosh girl. That has to be the most beautiful room I have ever laid my eyes on. I am not exaggerating! There is nothing to even compare! It really makes me speechless! You have done such an outstanding job. I am disabled so funds for me are extremely tight. I have had to do what I could with very little money. I spent all mine on a quilting frame. Honestly, I am extremely blessed to have it! I hope you enjoy your room for many years. I firmly believe being in a beautiful space when we are creating beautiful things helps! I am doing my room in black, white and pink. It is the one room I can do PINK! I live in a home with my son and hubby so pink doesnt really go over well in other rooms! But this is MY space!

I’m so glad you shared this. It is a great room for dreaming creating and making your thoughts come to pass in life. I am blessed to have a sewing room and I am looking for inspiration to decorate it. Which I am almost complete in doing. I finally came to this thought (I’m now 52 and just now thinking this), if it doesn’t belong in here…don’t store it in here! I had 30 years of sewing and craft supplies and some stuff just needs to go…I will never use it and yet I’m always trying to put it away…somewhere! hahaha….you have a great deal of things but I’m sure you had to edit your supplies. And you did it in a lovely way. It turned out so beautiful.

Just gorgeous! My only suggestion: use vintage salt and pepper shakers to store your glitter…then display them on a tiered stand. :)

Your studio is probably the prettiest studio I have ever seen. Wow. I adore the dress shop theme, and all of the wonderful details that went into planning this space. I am sad for you that you will have to sell your house and leave this beautiful room behind!
The floor is fantastic, and I love the dress forms placed around the room. I really love the cut out spaces for hats and gloves, and I just love the fact that you even elevated the lowly glue gun and glue sticks with your pretty items.
    Job well done.

You have made your sewing room so inspiring and beautiful! I adore all of your built-in cabinets and shelves! The drop – down board is perfect!

I am still trying to get my attic craft room organized and you are a wonderful example. I have isles of bins and I need to shed a few things to make room. This is what is so hard to do!

Oh, my1 How lovely. I had a wonderful sewing room at our last house after having set up sewing areas in closets at our former homes. Our little cottage doesn’t have room for a separate sewing space, but your lovely space has inspired me to work out something so I can sew more. Enjoy your lovely room.

OMGosh! If I could change the family room into my sewing room, I would have it made. I LOVE your room. The rooms I have available for my sewing, the rooms are way too small. Right now I am using 3 rooms just to move stuff around, but not able to find anything. I will be back often to check out your blog. I feel I simply cannot live without it! LOL. Thank you for sharing and giving me inspiration to get started on my own!

I know that this is a late comment but can I beg of you to tell me what color you used for your walls, or how you would describe the shade in person if you can’t remember for whatever reason? I am just madly in love with your room and my husband is in the process of building me a sewing room, much smaller of course, in our basement. I am using yours as an inspiration. I know that I could never dream of coming close to yours, but it literally gives me a warm feeling inside just to see it and I come back and look at the photos often. I just drove an hour and a half last night on the drop of a dime to get a display machine from 1889! I love it! I bought an antique toy mint green sewing machine with floral decals on it and a lot of “love” otherwise known as rust, simply because I thought it would look so at home in there. And to place my fabulous computerized embroidery machine on, I did find a very neglected French Provencial bedroom desk, dresser and night stand. It didn’t even occur to me at the time of purchase that you had a similar dresser in your room because I was so mesmerized by the kidney shaped desk and I was trying to emulate that look and the lady wouldn’t split the set. I did get it for $60 so I can’t complain. It just needed LOTS of elbow grease and about a full bottle of Goo Gone, and now it looks insanely cute! I am so excited to keep going! I am on the hunt for any and all things antique for the room, with a special emphasis on pink and green. We have taped the walls but haven’t yet arrived at the painting stage. I would really like to do a similar shade on the walls but it is kind of hard to tell in the photos. Yours seems to “go” with so many different shades and I love it, love it, love it! I am so obsessed I just made my 12 year old son come look at your pics, lol!

Hello Natalie, Let me first just say that your comment made me laugh and my husband and I thought it was so VERY sweet!!!! I am not sure if you know that I have been out of the loop of blogging and would have or maybe even did miss your question on the color of the walls. So if so I apologize for that. I am so excited to hear about your Sewing Room and hope that you will share some pictures… Do you have a blog ?

Well to not have you wait any longer the color I used is called White Scallion I actually found the post that I show the process of which I came about the color of the walls http://shoprubyjean.com/2012/02/under-construction-part-4-paint-colors/

      Have a Blessed day

Thank you so much for the reply! I have about a million color cards in the trunk of my car! I just checked out that post so I am sure you can relate. I was hoping to avoid that “color that exists in your head” dilemma I always seem to go through. I don’t think that just any color tint will work with that antique white shade, so I am excited to go get a swatch of that shade and see how she looks. So glad to see that you answered because I knew I was taking a gamble, I just didn’t realize that you were not blogging lately. I don’t have a blog, well I do, but I am not blogging right now, lol and mine were always political. I am taking a hiatus from that and just concentrating on being me. Seeing your room helped me with that process! :)

Oh my goodness, that is one of the prettiest sewing rooms I’ve ever seen. And the details are just over the top, like the lighted boxes built into the shelves, and the vintage light switches. I can’t get over it. I’ve pinned it to my “Dream Sewing and Craft Room” board and will definitely be coming back for more inspiration whenever I finally get around to putting my own room together. I found you over at The 36th Avenue and am off to check out more of your blog!
