Body Oder can be a “TOUCHY” subject. Well I guess it all depends on who your talking to.
I have struggled with excessive Underarm Sweating. Well, wait a minute…. Maybe the word Excessive is a bit much, let’s just say I Sweat a little more than normal. That sounds much nicer, doesn’t it?
I have tried ALL major and non major brands of, Natural and Organic deodorants. All in the hopes of getting off the TOXIC and Unhealthy commercial brands that have aluminum in them. Finding nothing that worked always lead me back to wearing the only thing that did work and that being, Dove’s Roll on Deodorant.
Absolutely, Frustrated and Fully given up. I figured this was just one product that I was not going to be able to change to an All natural Organic one.
That is until NOW!!!
Before I shared it, I really wanted to make sure that it worked and held up to my, “Little More than Sweating” self. We have been experiencing some VERY high heat temps and this was certainly going to prove this Deodorants worth. And I have to say that it did just that. I am truly amazed at how well it works and how wonderfully moisturizing it is.
I found the recipe here
Here is what you will need.
3Tbs. Coconut Oil, 3Tbs. Baking Soda, 2Tbs. Shea Butter, 2Tbs. Arrowroot and Essential Oils (optional)
Mix your dry ingredients
Using as glass jar melt your Shea Butter and Coconut Oil ( coconut oil liquifies in warm weather so I didn’t need to melt it ) I put my glass jar in a small pot of water and slowly melted it over the stove
Add your essential oils in and mix. Pour in your dry ingredients.
And, stir until well blended.
As your freshly made deodorant sits it will firm up. It does not need to be Refrigerated and can be stored in your bathroom. For application I just put a little bit on my fingers and rub in as I would a lotion.
I used Lavender and Rose essential oils and it smells LOVELY!!!
If you’ve been looking for or have been wanting to try an all Natural Organic deodorant, you should give this one a try.
Blessings,
Angelina

This looks like what I have been looking for. Most of them have been the ones I have had to put in the fridge. I have had to go all natural to get away from all the smells that cause my migraines. I love that I could control the ingredients and the smell. Thanks so much…smiles…Renee
Oh your welcome.. Let me know how it works if you do try it out.
I am so going to try this! My daughter has tried everything on the market including prescription deodorant and nothing has worked for her. I can’t tell you how many clothes she has ruined to say nothing of the embarrassment it causes….she works a very public job. What a blessing this will be if it works for her. Thank you and thank you again. xo Diana

How wonderful, I have trouble finding one that works also, and Dove clinical strength is the only one that works for me. I can’t wait to try yours, I even have all the ingredients on hand. Lovely pics, the vintage pyrex bowl is charming.

I never knew you could make your own deodorant. Lovely!
Yes, isn’t that great! And you know all the ingredients going into it, are good for you. I have enjoyed using it. Thanks for stopping in.
I love making DIY deodorant, and generally stick with a recipe (never seen one with shea butter!) but last time I made it I “eyed it” and would up with the grainiest most terrible feeling deo ever. Just a word of warning, keep this lovely recipe, and change up your essential oils but be careful changing up the rest

Hi Lindsey, the jar is a Kerr Wide Mouth Mason Jar. I don’t remember what store I picked them up at. But I am sure they are readily available. Thank you so much for stopping in.

This is fantastic!! I’ve been making more and more of our own products lately, but they have been the household things. This, however, is an area I didn’t even know could be done!!!! I am so excited to have found your link on Liz Marie’s blog today!!!! I’ve got about half of the ingredients, so I’m off to get the rest and get busy!!!
Thank you so much for testing and sharing this!!!!

wondering if it stains natural fabrics (cotton, silk) or blends?? sounds like a great homamade solution, but i fear my clothes would be ruined by the oils… any advice???
I actually wore a Vintage Cardigan today ( Why I don’t know..It was Extremely hot!! ) I was actually concerned about that very issue but it seemed to work very well and I had no issues of staining. Hope that helps.
okay….maybe i’ll give it a whirl and wear “play clothes”.
thanks!
LOL!!! Let me know how it goes.. I have been so VERY happy with it.. And lament all the time I went without it.
I will (lyk)…she said as she shivered.
Wow. you know how to make even deodorant look pretty!
Thank you, Kristen
I made one that I am currently using ~ I used a shea butter with lavender and corn starch instead of Arrow Root….is it better with the Arrow Root? Living in Arizona, I have to keep it in the fridge to stay solid. I used an empty stick deodorant container and love it. Will try your recipe next…so I am curious about the arrow root. Thanks!
Hello Sherry, sorry for the late reply my internet has been down. I am not sure the difference between the Arrow Root I do know that some corn starch’s are GMO. I hope that helps.
This is lovvvvelyyy. I made it yesterday, although I was bummed I didn’t have any rose EO. I was a little skeptical at it’s ability to keep me smelling lovely but so far so good. Not only is this recipe low cost (I had everything already on hand) it keeps icky things like breast cancer causing aluminum away from me.
Hi, I am allergic to shea butter, please let me know what I can use in its place.
Thanks
Dezaire
you could use coco butter instead. hope that helps
Where do you get Arrowroot? I’m very interested in making this…..a clickable list that shows where to get all of the required ingredients would sure be helpful.
Kelly, you can get arrowroot at any health food store or Amazon. hope that helps
can’t wait to make this! lavender and rose are my 2 favorite fragrances. <3
Hi, this looks really lovely and I haven’t tried your recipe as yet, bet definitely plan on doing so at the earliest convenience. What is the shelf life on your deodorant? Also does it firm up enough that i can pour it in a push up stick deodorant container like Dove?
Thanks,
Suan
You do not say how many drops of essential oil to use? I am going to give this a try!!!
You can fragrance to your liking
Many thanks!!!!
Hello! I am really interested in trying this! I also have a hard time with deodorants, and sweat more than average. I tried a homemade deodorant once- I think the oil was coconut oil. I found that the oil made a huge round dark spot on my shirt, similar to a sweat mark, but worse. Will this recipe do that? Thanks.
I haven’t had any issue with Marks or Stains. I actually wore a Vintage Sweater and didn’t realize it till later that I had my new deodorant on and it didn’t stain it at all.. I still Sweat with this deodorant but there is no smell. I have been using it since I posted this tutorial. I hope this helps
