I don’t know about you, but when I was growing up SUGAR CUBES seemed to be the sole property of adults. Why? I have no idea! Maybe it had something to do with the fact that they were more expensive (guessing) and reserved for those days when the Special China and silverware came out. I also marveled over how they were so perfectly square, to me that was just so AMAZING!! Kind of like how they got the cream inside the those Twinkies and Hostess Cupcakes. That seriously boggled my mind..
Then came the day many years later in Middle School when I had a teacher that LOVED all things crafty, she would spend more time teaching us in Art class then any other subject ( I LOVED that ). Well, she LOVINGLY showed her class how to make homemade Sugar Cubes… Talk about, Excited!!
I, SERIOUSLY, couldn’t believe or get over the fact at how simple these Miraculous cubes were to make.
(We make ours with Organic Sugars but because the sugar has more of an off white, tan color they didn’t look Picture Pretty but still are VERY cute!! )
You will need:
1cup of Sugar, 1tbs of water and food color of choice.
Pour your sugar, water and food coloring in a bowl and mix.
Place inside a silicone mold and microwave for 50 seconds. Set aside to cool and ENJOY!!
Simple as that!!
( we used our Heart Ice Cube tray from Target. It didn’t say if it was or wasn’t microwavable, so if you have these I would use with caution)
Just in case you missed out on the DIY Frozen Milk Hearts, you can check those out here.
