14days300

Today I will be sharing with you this Diy Ruffled Apron, the BONUS is I will be giving this Apron away at the end of this Party.. How exciting is that!! And, the best thing is all you have to do is leave a comment at the end of this post.

So on the off chance you don’t win this Adorable Apron, I will go ahead and show you how to make one of your very own.

Diy ruffled apron

I cut 2 pieces for the bib in a rectangle shape 10×13 . On the ruffle pieces I cut those on the fold, bottom ruffle 12 inches, middle ruffle 10.5 inches and top ruffle 7.5 inches. The waist band (2 total) 2.5x 27 inches and the straps (4 total) 2.5x 76 inches long. (the straps are extra long because they crisscross in the back.

Cut out a base for your ruffles to be attached to. I cut mine 21×7 inches. You will need to finish the bottom, top and sides of your ruffle strips. You can use a serger or a zig zag stitch. Turn over your finish edges and top stitch. Ruffle the Top Edge of our ruffle strips and then attach them to your base starting from the bottom ruffle to the top.

For the bib place right sides together and stitch up the sides, turn right sides out and press.  On your straps sew right sides together stitch up the sides and leave the top and bottoms open for turning right sides out. Press and top stitch. Place your straps inside the top of your bib and sew.

Diy Valentines Apron col

Take your waistband strips and place right sides together with your bib sandwiched in between. Pin in place and sew.

Diy Valentines apron col2

On the bottom part of your waist band turn the edges under about an half and inch and press. Then place your Ruffled pieces in the middle of your bottom waistband, pin and sew.

I made two little strips (you can see in the top left picture) by taking 2 inch strips and doing the same thing I did for my straps. I put them in on the ends of my waistband to act as loops for my apron straps to go through, in order for it to crisscross on the back into a bow.

And… There you have it. Your very own Ruffled Apron!

Simple as that!

  108. 109

I don’t know how to sew, but this is sewing is one of my goals. I taught my self how to crochet in one night and am embarking on learning new things this year. I decided after a long time I would learn to sew due to the close I currently see in the store for little girls. Since I now have a daughter I want to make sure she has a variety of “little girl” clothes to wear that keep her cute and innocent in her attire. Love this apron as we love to cook together!! Good luck everyone. :)

    Nakia D. says:

im confused by the ruffle pieces. It say 7.5, 10.5, and 12…. is that length, width, or is that whole part equal sides?

    • 125

      Hi Nakia,
Thank you so much for stopping in. I mentioned that the Ruffles were cut on the FOLD of the fabric. So the 7.5 is cut on the FOLD so the 7.5 is how Tall tall the RUFFLE is.. I hope this helps. If you have any other question please feel free to ask.. Have a great week!

  124. 126

I LOVE THIS APRON, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING IT WITH US. GOD BLESS YOU :)

    Amanda Haymore says:

    Hello,
Just cutting out all the pieces to make this lovely apron! I have a question, though. What are the measurements on the ruffles? I saw the 12 inches, 10 inches… but by what? 12 by what? I’m a figure it out as you go kind of sewer and not sure what cut on the fold means. Thank you for the pattern! These will make lovely presents for my mother and mother-in-law for Christmas.

    Amanda

    • 130

Hello Amanda, thank you for stopping in. Cutting on the fold is, the fold of the fabric when it comes off the Bolt at the Fabric store. So the FULL width of the Fabric. The 12 and 10″ are the Heighth of each Ruffle. So if you cut your Ruffle Strip on the fold at the FULL width of your fabric (ex. 35″ wide) by 12″ High. Gather it and that will be your Ruffle piece. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.
      Enjoy your new aprons! :)
      xoxo
