Day 8

Sometimes, things in life call for unconventional means. Take this Beret for instance. I was making this outfit and I felt like something was still needed. It needed a hat, but just any hat it needed a Beret. But I didn’t have time to buy or look for a pattern. I needed it QUICK, like right now kind of Quick!!
So the question was, “What was I going to use for a pattern?” Hey, why not my Kitchen Stock Pot. I am sure you would of thought of the same thing if you were in my shoes, Right?
So here is what I did. I took my largest stock pot (14 inch opening)
I then traced around the stock pot and cut 2 circles total.
Taking one of your circle pieces use a smaller pot and find the center of your Bigger circle and trace, then cut out.
With right sides together place your Circles on top of each other, pin in place and sew. Then turn right sides out. Taking a wide strip fold it in half then half on the ends. Making a band for the hat.
Pin that to your open circle piece and sew. The fabric I used had stretch to it. If you are using a non stretch fabric you may have to add elastic to the back of your band in order for it to go on and off the head. Or you can make it and exact fit and you should be okay.
I LOVE how this came out and will certainly be making more of these and just think your Kitchen Pots just aren’t for the Kitchen anymore.
Be sure to stop in and enter to win this Beautiful Apron I am giving away at the end of the party.

What a darling beret! I love the whole outfit! I know some little girls around here that would love to be sporting a nifty new beret.
Of course we would have all thought of using the kitchen pot! I sew, but I would never have attempted to make a beret, you are a genius! Now, your adorable daughter…Oh I could just squish her she is sooo cute!!!!
